Productive Round Table at Manchester Airport
MCA Members were welcomed to Manchester Airport on 25 February for productive discussions and an excellent opportunity to connect with key stakeholders.
We were warmly greeted by Managing Director Chris Woodroofe, who shared the airport’s future vision and ambitious plans to strengthen its position as a competitive international hub, including developments relating to Terminals 2 and 3.
Joshua Laws-Millett, Head of VIP Arrivals and Departures at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office(FCDO), provided valuable insight into the support available for the movement of Heads of State and other distinguished guests requiring special arrangements when travelling in and out of the UK.
Rachel Sowerby, Head of Aviation Security Authority, offered an informative overview of the regulatory framework governing travel to and from the UK, highlighting the considerations behind key security decisions.
Andrew Proudlove, Head of Business Compliance and Assurance, discussed airport access arrangements for Consuls, including passes and special permissions. He was joined by Timothy Cooke, Director of Security Operations, who contributed further operational insight.
The session concluded with Daniel McCabe, Head of Business Continuity and Resilience, and Christopher Nutter, Airport Duty Manager, who outlined crisis management procedures and explained the airport’s chain of command during periods of disruption or increased demand.
We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers for generously giving their time to engage with MCA Members. The round table proved extremely productive and informative, benefiting both newly appointed Consuls General and our long-standing Honorary Consuls.
