Annual General Meeting 2026
The Manchester Consular Association held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 7 October 2026 at the Deloitte offices, 100 Cathedral Approach, Salford. Members of the consular community met to review the past year, elect the Association’s officers and look ahead to the year to come.
Outgoing President Consul General Nicoleta Teodorovici (Romania) opened the meeting and thanked members for their support during her Presidency. She then handed over to the newly elected President, Consul General Imtiaz Gondal (Pakistan).
Officers and Committee for 2026–27

Honorary Secretary and Treasurer: Honorary Consul Agusta Thorarinsdottir (Iceland & Denmark)
Committee Members: Honorary Consul Abid Chohan (Kazakhstan), Honorary Consul Lorraine Worsley-Carter (Belgium) and Consul General Judit Várhelyi (Hungary)
The Association was also pleased to welcome two new members: Consul General Sérgio Vieira Morais (Portugal) and Honorary Consul Dina Railean (Moldova).
Looking ahead
Members put forward several ideas for the coming year. These included compiling a calendar of member countries’ National Days so the Association can send congratulations, supporting community groups through grants for cultural activities, and marking the departure of Consuls General at the end of their postings. The Committee will discuss these proposals further.
